The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has published a paper that explores how price transparency schemes can help consumers make better-informed decisions, and strengthen price competition.
The paper aims to help policymakers:
- understand the potential benefits of price transparency schemes
- assess the circumstances in which they are likely to be effective
- consider how they can be designed to best facilitate the benefits of competition
In November 2023, the CMA published a response to DSIT consultation: a Smart Data scheme for the UK telecoms market. This discussion paper builds on that earlier work, focusing on a subset of smart data schemes.
