This direction has now closed. A revised direction issued in May 2021 replaces it.

This direction requires the council to continue to take steps to improve its children’s social care services, including co-operating with the DfE-appointed Children’s Services Commissioner Eleanor Brazil OBE.

It follows a report by Ofsted that judged the overall effectiveness of the council’s children’s social care services to be inadequate.

This direction replaces the earlier statutory direction issued to the council in March 2020.
