This direction has closed and a direction issued by the Department for Education (DfE) on 10 July 2020 replaces it.
This direction required the council to take steps to improve its children’s social care services, including co-operating with a DfE-appointed Children’s Services Commissioner.
It followed a report by Ofsted that judged the overall effectiveness of the council’s children’s social care services to be inadequate.
