Decision made by the Charity Commission in April 2002.
The commission considered an application by Recycling in Ottery for registration as a charity. The organisation had been set up with objects that were not exclusively charitable, and in order for it to be registered, the objects needed to stress that any activities must be for the public benefit, so that non-charitable recycling could not be carried out. The commission considered the activities in the context of the Waste Strategy for England and Wales.
