Details

This document is for Environment Agency staff. It explains how the CCS works. They have published it for transparency and to help customers understand the scheme. Links in this document to information that is not publicly available will not work.

The Environment Agency uses the CCS to classify permit breaches. They look at whether you have kept to the conditions of your permit. They also look at the consequences of you failing to meet those conditions, for example:

  • what might happen to the environment
  • any work they would need to do to deal with a breach or to make your site compliant
