On 1 December 2025 Ofqual accepted a settlement proposal from Pearson following findings that it had failed to comply with its Conditions of Recognition because it had not acted sufficiently promptly when malpractice affected delivery of the online version of its secure English language test. The online version is no longer available to learners.
Pearson agreed to pay a fine of £750,000, together with £5,000 in respect of Ofqual’s legal costs. Final decisions were made by Ofqual’s Enforcement Panel on 5 December 2025.
