Details

The Department, in collaboration with industry and regulators, has looked at ways the As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) and Best Available Techniques (BAT) principles could be applied more consistently and proportionately.  

Together we have identified a set of principles for effective ways of working on the application of ALARP and BAT in the nuclear industry. 

This guidance does not change the relevant legal duties or undermine the flexibility that an outcome focused regulatory framework can offer.
