The United Kingdom will be leaving the European Union on 31 October 2019.

This paper sets out the immigration arrangements that will apply to EU citizens and their family members who are moving to the UK after Brexit on 31 October 2019 in the event that the UK leaves the EU without a deal. They replace those set out in the policy paper that was published on 28 January 2019.

Irish citizens’ rights are unaffected by these new arrangements. They can continue to come to the UK to live and work as now.

EU citizens and their family members living in the UK before the UK leaves the EU can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to stay in the UK after 31 December 2020. Find out more about the EU Settlement Scheme on GOV.UK.
