Details

The ‘National Service Framework for Diabetes’ sets quality standards for diabetes care. The standards aim to improve care for people with diabetes in England and to improve the quality of services.

The framework for diabetes will:

  • help people manage their insulin use around their lifestyle
  • ensure dedicated nurses on hospital wards to reduce the length of stay in hospital and cut the number of complications
  • create diabetes clinics to bring together specialist expertise and services, including foot care and eye screening
