Details

A qualitative process evaluation, undertaken by Ipsos UK, to understand how the National Fraud Squad (NFS) has been implemented and whether it is meeting its intended aims. The NFS is a key initiative delivered by the National Crime Agency (NCA), City of London Police (CoLP) and Regional Organised Crime Units (ROCUs), and was designed to create 400 new posts and undertake intelligence-led proactive investigations to tackle some of the most serious and prolific cases of fraud.

Research methods included in-depth interviews with managers and investigative officers within the organisations that make up the NFS. These were undertaken to gain an understanding of how NFS funding was being used, including on recruitment and training. The interviews also explored any perceived effects of the NFS on the strategic coordination, capacity and capabilities of law enforcement to tackle fraud.
