This report looks at how providers are applying standards or responding to the changes in the revised Mental Health Act Code of Practice.
We highlight our concerns that patients are not receiving the support they need to be involved in their care and benefit from the principles and safeguards in the MHA and Code.
We also call on local services to take more responsibility regarding the way the MHA is operating and how the Code is being applied, including improving governance tools and systems to collect data about the Act, outcomes for patients and reviewing this with local partners.
