Monitoring the Mental Health Act: 2013 to 2014

In this report we reflect on the changes and improvements to the implementation of the MHA, including our recommendations for changes to the new Code of Practice.
We also highlight our concerns that 1 in 5 people detained under the Act have no record of having their rights explained to them, and that people are being cared for away from home when they cannot access local services.
In addition, we look at the way providers and commissioners of services are using MHA data to plan their services.
