MIN 606 Notification of suspension for some UK Certification of Competency holders.

This MIN notes the Certificates of Competency (CoCs) and the endorsements on CoC’s (as listed in the Annex) which are suspended as of 00:01 GMT Monday 6 January 2020.

The Certificates of Competency (CoCs) and endorsements on CoC’s listed in the Annex to this MIN are suspended as of 00:01 GMT Monday 6 January 2020 pending the outcome of statutory inquiries into the fitness of the officers’ holding those CoCs. The holders of those CoCs have failed to demonstrate that they meet required standards of competency required by The Merchant Shipping (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) Regulations 2015, either by means of passing an online assessment or undertaking further training, in line with MIN 602. If a seafarer is found to be unfit to discharge their duties at an inquiry their CoC may be cancelled.
