The Local Industrial Decarbonisation Plan (LIDP) competition, ran by government in partnership with Innovate UK, provided £6 million in grant funding to support dispersed industrial manufacturers not located within the UK’s existing industrial clusters to decarbonise and reduce their emissions in the long term through the creation of pathways towards decarbonisation. The LIDP competition window was open from 5 June to 2 August 2023. Thirteen projects were successful in securing a portion of grant funding available. Projects commenced work in January 2024 with final reports produced by March 2025.
This evaluation was conducted in 2025 to 2026 by government social researchers within the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ). The evaluation consisted of interviews with Project leads, Monitoring Service Providers, Innovate UK and Technical Advisors. A focus group with policy and delivery teams within DESNZ and an online survey with project partners was also conducted.
