This summary outlines changes to inspection practice. This does not include corrections or changes made to improve clarity in how the framework is written.

References to the ‘chair of the MASA’ added throughout the framework to reflect recent changes to statutory guidance: working together to safeguard children.

Paragraphs 3 and 20: clarification that inspectors will take appropriate action to comply with duties under the Equality Act 2010 . 

Paragraphs 19 and 62: added guidance on deferring and pausing inspections.

Paragraphs 20, 51 and 88: added guidance about inspector conduct.

Paragraphs 20 and 62: added guidance on supporting the well-being of staff and leaders during inspections.

Paragraphs 20, 47, 89 and 90: added guidance on when and how the local area can raise issues or concerns about the inspection.

Paragraphs 41 and 43: added guidance on attendance at KIT and feedback meetings.
