Details

There is a need to ensure patients continue to start consultant-led treatment within 18 weeks of GP referral, and to see a cancer specialist within 2 weeks in cases of urgent referrals. Establishing a right to the 18-week and 2-week suspected cancer waiting time operational standards ‘locks in’ the level of delivery already being met by the NHS and ensures that it becomes an enduring NHS commitment.
