Published 1 November 2021

This notice sets out how we will use your personal data, and your rights. It is made under Articles 13 and/or 14 of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

Purpose

The personal data will be used to facilitate further engagement with industrial sites to support planning / scoping / selecting / arranging hydrogen site surveys, hydrogen demonstrations and the enablement of other hydrogen and decarbonisation work by DESNZ employees and suppliers contracted by DESNZ. Within the survey there are 4 subsequent questions that ask whether sites are interested in: having their sites surveyed, supporting potential demonstration work, supporting blending work and/or agree to being contacted by DESNZ related to responses given in the questionnaire. The responses given to those questions will determine whether the personal information collected earlier is used for those purposes.

Though not personal data, any commercial information you provide will be held in confidence and used for research purposes and to plan and scope the next phases of work. The data will not be shared outside the DESNZ Industrial and Hydrogen Teams and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). The HSE is working with DESNZ to provide technical and regulatory advice of the strategic decision in 2026. No information gathered from the questionnaire that allows individual businesses to be identified will be made public.
