This document has been published as part of the HS2 Phase One environmental statement for the route between London and the West Midlands. The environmental statement was produced to accompany the HS2 Phase One hybrid Bill.

Volume 1 provides an introduction to the environmental statement and describes:

  • Phase One of HS2
  • the environmental impact assessment process
  • the approach to consultation and engagement
  • details of the permanent features and generic construction techniques

It also summarises the main strategic, route-wide and local alternatives considered.
