Details

Homes for Net Zero is a government‑funded research programme designed to strengthen the evidence base for decarbonising homes, with a particular focus on owner‑occupied properties. The programme collects longitudinal, real‑world data from homes across Great Britain to understand how different measures affect energy use, costs, comfort and health, and how households respond to change.

The programme combines detailed monitoring with targeted trials of interventions, including energy efficiency measures, low‑carbon heating technologies and tailored transition plans for households. By integrating technical performance data with insights into consumer behaviour and experience, Homes for Net Zero provides robust, policy‑relevant evidence on what is practical, scalable and acceptable in real homes. The findings are intended to inform the design, targeting and sequencing of future policies to support the transition to low‑carbon heat and delivery of Net Zero policies.
