DESNZ response to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request dated 20 November 2025.

It provides data on:

• calculations behind the government’s 0.4% figure
• the percentage of agricultural land this is equivalent to as a percentage of total UK utilised agricultural land

The request was considered in accordance with the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIRs) as the information requested falls within the definition of ‘environmental information’.
