Details
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) supports the decarbonisation of heating in domestic properties by incentivising the deployment of low carbon heating (LCH) systems. The original duration of the BUS (2022 to 2025) is subject to an evaluation.
These reports and data tables provide interim evaluation findings, based on research conducted after the heat pump grant uplift with property owners who had a low carbon heating system installed, as well as research with registered installers.
Topics covered in these outputs include:
- property owners’ experiences of participating in the BUS
- property owners’ satisfaction with their LCH systems after one heating season
- whether property owners experienced changes in bills and energy tariffs
- the impact of the grant uplift on property owners’ decision to install an LCH system
- installers’ experiences of participating in the BUS
- why some property owners and installers did not participate in, or dropped out of, the Scheme
This is the second publication of the BUS evaluation:
- the first report was published earlier in 2025
- a final synthesis report will follow in 2026
