Dear Professor Wood and Professor Thomas
Ethylbromazolam: a review of the evidence on its use and harms
Thank you for your advice of 14 April about ethylbromazalom which the ACMD has recommended be controlled under Class C of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and scheduled under Schedule 1 to the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001.
Given the similarities in chemical structure, cited in the report, which resemble those of bromazolam and other benzodiazepines that are subject to control under Class C of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, and the assessment of the potential risk of health and social harms commensurate with other Class C drugs, I accept your recommendation. The Government will seek to implement the control and scheduling of ethylbromazalom as soon as Parliamentary time allows.
I thank the Council for its valuable expertise and recommendation.
Very best wishes,
Sarah Jones MP
