1. Action: 16 to 18 traineeships growth requests for adult providers

Providers with only adult contracts are now able to submit requests for increases to their 16 to 18 traineeships contract value for the funding year 2018 to 2019.

The deadline to submit completed growth request forms is 5pm, Friday 14 December. Please email completed forms to performancemanagement@education.gov.uk.

For further information or related queries, please contact your provider manager.

2. Reminder: application deadline for Condition Improvement Fund 2019 to 2020

The deadline for all applications to the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) is 12pm on Thursday 13 December.

Any application forms that have been saved on the CIF portal but not submitted by the deadline will not be assessed.

If you need help accessing CIF portal or with uploading your application, call the dedicated CIF helpline on 01325 340947. The helpline is open Monday to Friday between 9:30am and 4:30pm.

For all other CIF enquiries, including monitoring returns, loans or scope change requests, please use the ESFA enquiry form.

3. Information: qualification achievement rates (QAR) 2017 to 2018 updated documents

We have published version 2 of the QAR dataset specifications and the data extract guides. You should read these documents alongside version 2 of the business rules, which explain the methodology for calculating QARs for 2017 to 2018.

The main changes from version 1 of the specifications are:

  • a change to the exclusion rule for aims recorded with a withdrawal reason of transfer to another aim with the same provider
  • exclusion of former Employer Ownership Pilot (EOP) provision
  • inclusion of the high needs students (HNS) flag in the QAR data

4. Information: building component failure

The Department for Education (DfE) and the Local Government Association (LGA) wish to make building owners aware of a recent building component failure in a property constructed using Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC).

RAAC was generally used in construction in the UK between the mid-1950s and 1980.

LGA has published information on RAAC along with suggested steps that you need to take as a responsible body.
