1. Action: school workforce census

There are some new data requirements in the school workforce census for 2018. Please see the guidance documents for details of these changes.

2. Reminder: autumn school census 2018

The autumn school census 2018 begins on Thursday 4 October. The deadline for approved submissions is Wednesday 31 October.

A ‘beta’ release of the 2018 autumn school census live COLLECT blade is still available. We would strongly encourage schools to take advantage of this facility before Friday 28 September at 4pm.

The interactive post-16 census tool supports institutions to return accurate 16 to 19 data. There are 16 to 19 funding reports available in COLLECT along with a guide on how to use the reports. We have also published COLLECT user guides to assist colleagues.

The school census guide for the 2018 to 2019 academic year is available on the school census website.

3. Action: local authorities to submit grant return and use of funds statement by 31 October 2018

Local authorities are required to to upload a CFO signed grant return and use of funds statement to the ESFA’s Information Exchange by 31 October 2018. We have published guidance on GOV.UK.

4. Information: high needs funding operational guide for 2019 to 2020

We have published the high needs operational guidance setting out arrangements for high needs funding in 2019 to 2020.

The guidance includes changes to the high needs funding system in 2019 to 2020, a summary of key dates and actions for local authorities and institutions, and information on funding arrangements for alternative provision.

5. Information: 2018 to 2019 local authorities planning calendar

We have updated the local authorities planning calendar for the 2018 to 2019 financial year.

The calendar shows a summary of key dates for ESFA activities that relate to schools funding. It also contains key actions that authorities must complete throughout the year.

6. Information: 16 to 19 revenue funding allocations customer engagement survey
