This joint strategy sets out new and renewed actions by government and Ofgem to reduce existing domestic energy debt and prevent new debt from building up.
It focuses on 4 objectives:
- preventing debt escalation and targeted debt relief
- reforming payment and billing systems to remove barriers to payment
- improving consumer engagement mechanisms
- strengthening joint delivery across the sector
