Energy Data Visibility Project (EDVP): winning consortium

Published 7 May 2021

The objective of the EDVP programme is to deliver a service which aims to:

  • increase the visibility of energy system metadata (a description of the attributes of a dataset), by listing metadata centrally, to an agreed standard
  • provide a mechanism for missing/closed data to be requested by energy system participants
  • provide direct access to data that is open to the user
  • allow data users to provide feedback on the quality of data
  • collect service analytics

The Alpha phase of the Energy Data Visibility Project (EDVP) will be led by the winning consortium, Icebreaker One (IB1), Arup and Hippo Digital.

The awarded contract value is £344,190.

The service was called for by recommendation 3 of the Energy Data Taskforce. The Discovery phase for this work was completed in October 2020 in partnership with the Office for National Statistics (ONS):

IB1, Arup and Hippo Digital will develop a service which is fully interoperable with the existing and emerging Modernising Energy Data landscape (including the common data architecture solution being developed through the MEDA project).

Progress on the project will be communicated through the Programme Board and Steering Group, as well as a series of public show and tells.
