This document sets out the requirements that the Chief Inspector at Ofsted must meet when organising and undertaking inspections of early years childcare providers.

This covers the early years childcare provider inspection requirements for Ofsted since 1 August 2012 to the present day.

All early years providers must be registered with, and be inspected by, Ofsted. Childminders can register with childminder agencies as an alternative to registering with Ofsted. We also have childminder agency inspection requirements for Ofsted.
