Early outcomes fund: grants for local authorities
Funding for local authorities to work together in partnership to improve early language outcomes for 0 to 5 year olds through high quality local services.

Details
The fund is worth approx. £6.5m. The funding is for the financial years 2018 to 2019 and 2019 to 2020.
The fund aims to achieve three key things:
- to increase leadership focus at local authority level on the key issue of early language
- to enable local authorities to undertake work to improve their services and how they are delivered
- to resource evaluation and partnership working amongst local authorities that will spread innovations around the wider system
We are seeking bids from partnerships of 3 or 4 local authorities (with 1 authority in the lead) in the region of £500k-£1.5m. We will also accept bids from single authorities. Some authorities will need to have outcomes ‘below the median’ to apply. See the fund guidance for full details of eligibility and how to make a bid.
The application process is open. It will close on 18 January 2019.
