This is an updated draft ‘Pubs code’ that was first published in June 2014 as Annex F of ‘Pub companies and tenants: government response to the consultation’. This will be a statutory code to govern the relationship between pub-owning businesses and their tied tenants. This draft was published ahead of the House of Commons report stage. It takes into account comments, advice and information we have received since the government response was published as well as the debates in Public Bill Committee.

Consultation on a final draft of this Code will take place after the Bill has received Royal Assent, ensuring that the Code is fully reflective of debates during the passage of the Bill and the final provisions of the Act. The Code will then be introduced through secondary legislation.
