Direction issued to the London borough of Bromley due to its inadequate children's social care services.
An independent report by the DfE-appointed Commissioner for Children’s Services in Bromley recommended that the council be allowed to retain control of the delivery of children’s social care services subject to a 6-month review of progress.
The report of that progress review recommends that the council retain control of the services.
The commissioner was appointed following a report by Ofsted that judged the overall effectiveness of those services to be inadequate.
This revised direction requires the chair of the council’s improvement board to provide the Secretary of State with quarterly update reports on the council’s ongoing improvement work.
The revised direction replaces the earlier statutory direction issued to the council in November 2016.
