Natural England published a review of HS2 Ltd’s ‘no net loss in biodiversity’ metric. This metric measures HS2 Ltd’s progress towards achieving their ambition of no net loss in biodiversity for Phase One of HS2.

Natural England made a specific recommendation on how losses of ancient woodland are compensated for, and this statement outlines the Department for Transport’s response to this recommendation.
