Details

Public Health England’s overall mission will be to protect and improve the health and well being of the population, and to reduce inequalities in health and well being outcomes.

The chair will be an outstanding individual with a first-class reputation who will be able to advise and support the chief executive in successfully running and developing Public Health England.  Candidates must be able to demonstrate they have excellent chairing skills and significant experience of successfully leading a complex, high profile organisation.Remuneration for the chair role is up to £39,000 per annum for approximately six days per month.

Non executive members

The non executive members, one of whom will chair the audit and risk committee, will have an important role in supporting the chair and contributing to the organisation’s strategic direction and governance.  Candidates will have a track record of achievement at the highest level and will need to demonstrate sound judgement, based on their ability to consider complex issues. Remuneration for non executive members is £7,883 per annum, with £13,137 per annum payable to the audit committee chair, for a time commitment of between two to three days per month.

Appointment of the chair and the non executive members will be for terms of up to four years, to be determined by the Secretary of State.

Closing date

The closing date for chair applications is 12 noon on 4 October 2012.  Interviews for the chair post will take place on the afternoon of 30 October 2012.

The closing date for non executive member applications is 12 noon on 9 October 2012.
