Details

This report updates trend information on credit use and the extent of consumer indebtedness using data from the YouGov DebtTrack survey, an on-line survey carried out between February and November 2012.

The data for 2012 indicates:

  • a continued decrease in the proportion of households using unsecured credit and a flattening of demand for additional credit products
  • that the incidence of financial difficulty has levelled out after decreasing in previous years
  • about 1 in 10 households were either taking formal action on debt problems or were more than 3 months in arrears on payments
