Credit Cards (Merchant Acquisition) Order 1990

Details

This order was made under the monopoly provisions of the Fair Trading Act 1973. The order makes it unlawful for payment card organisations to require payment card issuers to go through the step of issuing payment cards, before they can become merchant acquirers. It also stops payment card issuers from preventing credit card issuers also being merchant acquirers.
