After reading this guidance you should understand:

  • the Gateway requirements as defined in Part 2 of the Civil Legal Aid (Procedure) Regulations 2012
  • how Civil Legal Advice (CLA) operates
  • how people can contact CLA providers
  • when and how to direct people to CLA for help
  • what to expect when CLA signposts or refers clients to you

You should read this guidance if:

  • you’re a legal aid provider under the standard civil contract 2018 in housing and debt
  • you’re involved as a provider under a standard civil contract in any other categories.
