Change a charity’s details
Change significant details about a recognised charity, using form ChV1.
If your organisation is registered as a charity with HMRC, you can use this form to tell us about significant changes to the charity’s details.
Significant changes could be to:
- contact details
- authorised officials
- nominees, such as tax agents
- bank account details
You can either:
- use the online service
- fill in the form on-screen, print and post to HMRC
If anyone that you’re naming does not have a National Insurance number, you must use the postal form.
Explain the circumstances in section 55, under ‘any other changes’.
Change details online
You need to sign in using the Government Gateway user ID and password you used when you registered your charity with HMRC.
Change details by post
You need to:
- Download and save the form on your computer.
- Open it using the latest free version of Adobe Reader.
- Complete it on-screen. Use the guidance on completing form ChV1 to help you.
- Print and post it to the address on the form.
The form may not work if you try to open it in your internet browser. If the form does not open, contact online services support for more help.
If you’re a tax agent
You’ll need to use the Charities for Agents online service.
Ask your client to fill in this form and enter your agent details as a nominee.
We’ll send you an agent reference number and a customer reference number by post. You can use these to enrol the Charities for Agents online service onto your Government Gateway account.
