This guidance covers how to consider the impact of a woodland creation proposal on the water environment. It sets out when applicants with woodland creation proposals should seek advice and information from the Forestry Commission, the Environment Agency, your lead local flood authority and/or the appropriate water regulator.

Use this guidance alongside the UK Forestry Standard (UKFS) and UKFS practice guides for water management to support the creation of well-designed and managed woodlands that protect and enhance the water environment.
