Use this form to apply to extend your stop on a probate application (known as a caveat).

You can apply to extend your stop on a probate application also known as a caveat.
Who can apply
You can apply if you’re:
- over 18
- the person who entered the original caveat
- a probate practitioner appointed by the person who entered the original caveat
Fee
It costs £3 to extend an application for 6 months.
How to apply
You must apply by post. You can only apply if your original caveat is due to expire within a month.
To apply by post:
- Download the form.
- Fill in all the sections.
- Print the form.
- Sign and date the form.
- Pay the £3 application fee by sending a cheque payable to ‘HM Courts and Tribunals Service’ with your form.
- Send the completed form to:
