The call for experts will close at midnight on Sunday 7 December 2025.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is a scientific body of the United Nations that draws on the expertise of scientists from around the world to assess the science of climate change. It provides policy makers with:

  • regular scientific assessments on climate change, its implications and potential future risks, and options for adaptation and mitigation
  • assessments and reports which are relevant to policy, politically neutral, not prescriptive, highly influential
  • guidance on the reporting of emissions for consideration in the preparation of national greenhouse gas inventories

At its 60th Session held in January 2024 (in Istanbul, Türkiye), the IPCC requested that its Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (TFI) produce an IPCC Methodology Report on Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies, Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage following the Appendix A to the Principles Governing IPCC Work (Decision IPCC-LXIII-6).
