IPCC UK expert nomination: privacy notice

This notice sets out how we will process your personal data, and your rights. It is made under Articles 13 and/or 14 of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). This privacy notice serves to inform individuals how their personal data will be processed should they wish to be put forward for nomination in opportunities to contribute to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as a UK expert.
Your data
We will process the following personal data:
- your name
- your email address
- your gender
- your institutional affiliation
- your area(s) of expertise
Purpose
The purpose for which we are processing your personal data is to consider you for nomination as a UK expert to contribute the IPCC’s seventh assessment cycle. The seventh assessment cycle began in 2023 and will last until 2029.
Legal basis of processing
The legal basis for processing your personal data under Article 6 of the UK GDPR is: 1(a)Consent: You consent to the processing of your personal data for one or more specific purposes. Should you change your mind, you can withdraw your consent at any time and for any reason by emailing ipccauthorsupportuk@energysecurity.gov.uk.
Recipients
Your personal data will be shared by us with the IPCC. The IPCC’s Privacy Policy can be accessed at https://www.ipcc.ch/privacy-policy-2/. As your personal data will be stored on our IT infrastructure, it will also be shared with our data processors Microsoft and Amazon Web Services.
Retention
Your personal data will be kept by us for the entirety of the IPCC’s seventh assessment cycle, which will run until the end of 2029, unless you withdraw your consent.
International Transfers
Your personal data will be processed in the UK and by the IPCC, which is an international organisation. The Department of Energy Security and Net Zero cannot accept any liability for how the IPCC processes and stores your personal data. Your rights
You have the right to request information about how your personal data are processed, and to request a copy of that personal data.
You have the right to request that any inaccuracies in your personal data are rectified without delay.
You have the right to request that any incomplete personal data are completed, including by means of a supplementary statement.
You have the right to request that your personal data are erased if there is no longer a justification for them to be processed.
You have the right in certain circumstances (for example, where accuracy is contested) to request that the processing of your personal data is restricted.
You have the right to withdraw consent to the processing of your personal data at any time.
