Criminal justice statistics
A collection of quarterly statistics on activity in the criminal justice system, offending histories, and biennial compendiums on the experiences of women and different ethnic groups of the criminal justice system.
This collection includes the following National Statistics:
- Criminal Justice System statistics quarterly (CJSQ),
- First time entrants (FTE) into the Criminal Justice System, Offender Histories (included within CJSQ prior to September 2021) and Prolific Offenders (included within CJSQ prior to March 2019),
- Ethnicity (formerly Race) and the Criminal Justice System (ECJS),
- Women and the Criminal Justice System (WCJS).

Criminal Justice System Statistics Quarterly (CJSQ)
Trends in the use of out of court disposals, defendants prosecuted, offenders convicted, remand and sentencing decisions in England and Wales.
The annual reports (year ending December) provide a series of data tools at a more detailed outcome and offence level. These were revised in January 2024 to reflect work undertaken to develop and deliver significant improvements to the criminal court sentencing data. Please use data tools alongside the December 2022 and June 2023 publications for the latest and most accurate statistics due to revisions of previously published data. Most of these tools have a time series of 2010-2022.
First time entrants (FTE) into the Criminal Justice System, Offender Histories, and Prolific Offenders
Data tables and pivot tools providing an overview of trends in first time entrants into the Criminal Justice System and Offender Histories in England and Wales (included within CJSQ prior to September 2021), and report with accompanying data tables on prolific offenders (included within CJSQ prior to March 2019).
Equalities in the Criminal Justice System
Biennial compendiums on the experiences of women and different ethnic groups of the criminal justice system.
