Two reports have been published on the uptake of seasonal influenza vaccine among frontline healthcare workers and GP patient groups.
The first report provides a summary of the uptake of seasonal influenza vaccines among those healthcare workers who are involved in direct patient care. As part of the 2010/11 vaccination programme, data were collected by staff groupings (doctors, qualified nurses, other professionally qualified clinical staff, and clinical support staff) and by trust type and strategic health authority. The survey included 388 NHS trusts and covered the period from 1 September 2010 to 28 February 2011.
The second report focused on uptake among those aged 65 years and over, and those aged under 65 years falling in a clinical at-risk group. In addition, and for the first time, pregnant women (at any stage of pregnancy) were offered the seasonal trivalent influenza vaccine.
