Recruitment Vacancy – Senior Scientific Officer in the Residues Team
Details of a 18 month fixed term appointment in the Residues Team.
This exciting and fast-paced job is based in the VMD’s Residues Team but you will also work closely with our International Team.
You will be responsible for assessing whether the systems that trading partners have in place are sufficient so that banned substances, authorised medicines and contaminants are not present in food-producing animals, or their products, at levels that exceed Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs). This helps to ensure that food imported to the UK is safe for consumers.

Role
The primary purpose of this role is to coordinate and conduct audits and assessments of the veterinary residues programmes of both existing and prospective UK trading partners, contributing to the wider Defra-led decision-making process.
You will also support other countries to build their own residues surveillance and laboratory testing capacity, through provision of technical advice and training.
