Prime Minister and President Karzai discussed the Afghan-led peace process
The Prime Minister welcomed President Karzai of Afghanistan to Downing Street today as part of the President’s visit to the UK. Their discussions focussed on how President Karzai can continue his good work in furthering the Afghan-led peace process following yesterday’s trilateral meeting with Prime Minister Sharif of Pakistan.
The two leaders looked forward to the forthcoming national elections which will mark a major milestone for Afghanistan and agreed on the importance of them being credible, transparent and inclusive to ensure the ongoing support of the international community. They also discussed the importance of agreeing a Bilateral Security Agreement and attracting responsible investors to Afghanistan’s Economic opportunities.
