New Acting Chairman of Security Industry Authority Appointed

The Security Industry Authority has today appointed Bill Matthews as Acting Chairman.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Mr Matthews, who has served as Scottish Board Member of the Security Industry Authority (SIA) since 2008, succeeds Ruth Henig whose fixed term of appointment came to an end on Monday (14 January).

The appointment, which follows a formal recruitment campaign, is for one year. Mr Matthews’ main role will be leading the SIA through the transition to a business licensing regime.

Home Office Minister Lord Taylor of Holbeach said:

“I am sure Bill Matthews will bring his energy and experience to this vital and challenging role as the SIA moves towards a new regime based on regulation of businesses.”

Mr Matthews began his career as an engineer with Motorola, leading to a 15 year career in operations, marketing and senior management roles. He has held roles on the Management Board of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, and the Scottish Police Services Authority.
