Ministerial changes: December 2013

Ministerial changes at the Ministry of Justice, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

The Queen has been pleased to approve the following ministerial appointments:

  • Simon Hughes MP to be appointed as a Minister of State at the Ministry of Justice following the resignation from government of the Rt Hon Lord McNally on his appointment as Chair of the Youth Justice Board

  • Lord Faulks QC to be appointed as a Minister of State* at the Ministry of Justice

  • Jenny Willott MP to be appointed as a Parliamentary Under Secretary of State* at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport while Jo Swinson MP is on maternity leave; Jenny Willott will remain an Assistant Government Whip

Further information

Jenny Willott’s appointment will become effective on Friday 20 December 2013.

Lord Faulks will take up his appointment on 20 January 2014.

Lord McNally will take up the post as Chair of the Youth Justice Board in mid-March in line with the requirements of the Advisory Committee on Business Appointments.
