Minister for Africa concerned by reports of an attempted coup in Mali

Following reports of an attempted coup, Minister for Africa Henry Bellingham said that the UK condemns any actions which undermine democratic rule and the Malian Constitution.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Speaking today the Foreign Office Minister said:

“The UK is deeply concerned by reports of an attempted coup in Mali. We completely condemn any actions which undermine democratic rule and the Malian Constitution. We fully endorse the clear position of the African Union and ECOWAS and the call by the United Nations for a peaceful dialogue to resolve any grievances.”
