Helga Danmayr receives MBE

Helga Danmayr, long-serving Honorary Pro Consul of the United Kingdom in Salzburg, has been awarded with an MBE.

The British Embassy Vienna is delighted to announce that Helga Danmayr, long-serving Honorary Pro Consul of the United Kingdom in Salzburg has been awarded with an MBE in the 2017 New Year’s Honours list.

Helga Danmayr was born in 1939. She started to work for the British Government as a Consular Assistant in 1983. In 1986 she was appointed Honorary Pro-Consul in Salzburg and proceeded to work in that role supporting Honorary Consul Martin Kaindl, OBE for three decades.

Ambassador Leigh Turner said:

In the name of the British Government and the United Kingdom as a whole I would like to thank Helga Danmayr for her tireless work supporting British nationals in Salzburg. She has always represented our country with utmost professionalism and dedication. Becoming an MBE is a well deserved appreciation of her excellent work over a very long period of time.

Helga Danmayr worked on a broad range of consular issues in Salzburg, many of which were related to skiing accidents of British tourists.

The MBE is awarded for outstanding achievements or service to the community.
