Mr Fallon used the talks to discuss how the UK and UAE can work together to tackle the threat posed by ISIL as well other issues of shared interest. He also met with Mohammed Ahmad Al Bawardi Al Falasi, the Under-Secretary of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Defence,

Speaking at the end of his visit, the Defence Secretary said:

The threat from ISIL to the security of the Middle East and the UK remains critical. We recognise that the extremists will not be defeated by military action on the battlefield alone.

By working with our closest allies and partners like the UAE we will tackle the violent ideology and expose the group for the cruel and brutal scourge that it is. I am pleased to have had the opportunity to discuss this and other important issues with the Crown Prince yesterday.
