Darbelife Injection seized
A human medicinal product from India seized at East Midlands Airport.
A package containing a medicine for humans was identified by a courier company based at a depot in the East Midlands.
The package arrived from India containing medicine destined for an address in Durham.
The medicine was detained and subsequently seized by an inspector from the VMD.
The following medicine was seized:
- 1 x box of Darbelife - 16 syringes of Darbepoetin alfa Injection 40mcg/0.40ml manufactured by Hetero Healthcare
The VMD was informed this product had been intended for administration to horses. This product is not an authorised veterinary medicine in GB or NI, or imported with any relevant certification.
The medicine was seized under Regulation 25 (Importation of unauthorised veterinary medicinal products) of the Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013.
